I have often wondered how to set up my i-phone so I could video what ever I was doing on my desk. Quite some time ago I bought one of these.

But I still could not figure out what to attach it to so the phone would be overhead looking down on my desk. I really did not want to invest any money buying things since I plan to only occasionally make a video. Finally I came up with this idea. I took the grip tight mount off of the Gorilla Pod Stand and mounted it on an old camera tripod that I have had for years.
(I don't have my phone in the mount shown here. I had to use it to take the pictures.)
In setting this up on my desk I found out that if I leaned the tripod forward the legs of the tripod would be out of my way plus not be seen in the video.
To keep it from toppling over I mounted a couple of mini clamps on the back edge of my desk. Then put a rubber band around the clamps which secures the extended leg of the tripod.
Yeah me for figuring this out.
Thanks for looking!
